Lt Col Kirk B. Loney was a founding member of Nevada Wing, completing 55 years of service. He commanded the Reno Air Squadron 1942-1945. Missions included Army Air Corps, United States Air Force, FBI, and Washoe County Sheriff's Department. He flew 29 different aircraft types - from the 65hp Taylor two-seater to the mighty airplanes of his generation. From the fledgling outfit that Lt Col Loney led, the Nevada Wing has grown to 392 senior members and 187 cadets.
He graduated from Reno High School in 1933 and was employed by Nevada Bell for 23 years.
