Nellis Senior Squadron (NV-064)

Commander's Welcome

The Nellis Senior Squadron consists of approximately 50 adult volunteer members of all ages and backgrounds. Many are long time members of the Civil Air Patrol who bring vast experience to our Squadron, and we have many up-and-coming younger members who bring their knowledge of modern technology to the squadron. We have a healthy mix of pilots and non-pilots, military or former military, and members with no military experience in the Squadron. The common theme that brings us all together is aviation and the desire to serve.

We are involved in all the primary programs of the Civil Air Patrol, but our primary emphasis and expertise is emergency services in search and rescue or disaster relief assessment missions utilizing both air and ground assets. We spend most of our time and effort in local training, as we are fortunate that Southern Nevada disasters are infrequent. We travel if requested to assist other CAP Units in training or actual missions. We are also involved in various regional and national activities that CAP conducts, including instruction at NESA, the National Emergency Services Academy. While all the training we do is oriented towards CAP mission needs, there is often a transfer of knowledge and/or skills that assists a member in their non-CAP activities.

As Commander of the Nellis Senior Squadron, I invite you to visit our Squadron, and if you like what you see, join in the fun!

Capt. Donald Eichelberger

Squadron Commander
