Since its origins in 1941, Nevada Wing Civil Air Patrol (NVWG) has executed ground and air sorties in support of Disaster Relief, Missing Persons, or Search and Rescue within Nevada. In addition, we support our local communities.

NVWG brings a wealth of resources and experience to augment state and local capabilities and essentially serves as the pre-eminent fixed wing air component to the state in all hazards response. NVWG is a formidable resource to provide a volunteer force for any operational need.

WHAT WE DO

Search and Rescue
Perhaps best known for its search-and-rescue efforts, NVWG aircrew inland search-and-rescue missions directed by the Nevada Department of Emergency Management, the Nevada Sheriffs, and the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida.

Disaster Relief
NVWG provides air and ground transportation and an extensive communications network. Volunteer members fly disaster-relief officials to remote locations and provide manpower and support to local, state and national disaster-relief organizations. CAP has formal agreements with many government and humanitarian relief agencies including the American Red Cross, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Federal Aviation Administration, National Transportation Safety Board and the U.S. Coast Guard. NVWG members provide support to all agencies upon request.

United States Air Force Support
NVWG performs missions in direct support of the U.S. Air Force. Specifically, NVWG conducts light transport, communications support, and low-altitude route surveys. NVWG also provides orientation flights for AFROTC cadets. Joint exercises with multiple agencies through the Green Flag missions provides training for active duty service members before deployment.
