Commander's Corner

Nevada Wing Commander

Well, here we are at the end of another exciting year in Nevada Wing in which we have accomplished several milestones:

  • Increased our visibility with State and County Emergency Managers

  • Participated in State response to flooding and avalanche threats

  • Developed and SE tiered UAV program finalized with a competition

  • Worked with Clark County School District to provide O-Rides to AFJROTC cadets

  • Worked with Region to develop an AE Officer training program

  • And more............

The final reward for lots of hours and hard work was the achievement of the 2016-2017 Quality Cadet Unit Award by FIVE of our squadrons:

  • Truckee Tahoe Composite Squadron

  • Las Vegas Composite Squadron

  • Henderson Composite Squadron

  • Reno Composite Squadron

  • Vegas Valley Composite Squadron

These units have worked to meet criteria in Adult leadership, Aerospace Education, Cadet Achievement, Encampment participation, O-Rides and several others.

As our capacity to respond to emergencies, teach our youth, and commit to community service continues to increase we also continue to build relationships among our members. Our organization is sustained by these relationships, local and national, and should be the foundation of all we do as we move into the new year.
