At the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada, cadets and senior members came together to partake in an event that remembers those who have served our country. In a nationwide effort, Wreaths Across America is an annual event that lay wreaths on fallen American veterans. The ceremony itself encompasses over 1,600 veterans' cemeteries across the country, as well as 24 cemeteries oversees, to be an estimated 1.8 million wreaths this year. This year in Boulder City, a total of 11,500 wreaths were bought and 9,702 were placed down in remembrance of our deceased veterans. The event started with a ceremony at McClellan Gate at 8:30 led by Capt. Matt Mendenhall. Afterwards, a color guard presentation was led by the 802nd Cadet Squadron in Henderson. A ceremonial wreath placing for every branch of the armed forces was held, with Palo Verde AFJROTC singing every branch's service song.

Many organizations appeared to honor our fallen heroes, including the Scouts, United States Naval Sea Cadets, Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps, and Civil Air Patrol. Civil Air Patrol squadrons participated in multiple facets of the event, including passing out personally ordered wreaths, helping unload boxes of wreaths to volunteers, and honorably placing wreaths on veterans' graves. With multiple hours of hard work, volunteers were able to cover multiple sections of the cemetery, with about 3,000 more wreaths donated than the year prior. With the tremendous support of Civil Air Patrol squadrons in our Wing, Wreaths Across America demonstrates the commitment of Civil Air Patrol in honoring our nation's veterans, past and present.
