Nevada Wing Steps in to Help Nevada With COVID-19


Las Vegas, NV - On 20 April 2020 members of the Nevada Wing of Civil Air Patrol serviced Helping Hands of Las Vegas with delivering food to the elder of the community that are need during this COVID -19 pandemic. Nevada Wing volunteers both cadets and seniors, acting as the auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, with Helping hands of Las Vegas to transport Emergency Supplies. Items such as food, perishable and non perishable items, toilet paper and many more items.

Supporting this effort were 16 Civil Air Patrol Volunteers from across southern Nevada and 4 CAP vehicles. We had member from every Southern Nevada squadron supporting this COVID relief mission. We delivered approximately 840 meals. Each client got enough food for about 42 meals.

“Across the nation, numerous CAP wings are also assisting with COVID-19 responses in their states. Twenty states and over 900 members have assisted in their state’s emergency operations centers, transported personal protection equipment (PPE), lab supplies and test samples and provided other assistance.” – Kansas Wing News

Civil Air Patrol, the longtime all-volunteer U.S. Air Force auxiliary, is the newest member of the Air Force’s Total Force. In this role, CAP operates a fleet of 560 aircraft, performs about 90 percent of continental U.S. inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center and is credited by the AFRCC with saving an average of 80 lives annually. CAP’s 61,000 members also perform homeland security, disaster relief and drug interdiction missions at the request of federal, state and local agencies. In addition, CAP plays a leading role in aerospace/STEM education, and its members serve as mentors to over 26,000 young people participating in CAP’s Cadet Programs. Visit or for more information.
